Soap Solution, 2 oz.

Fill the test tube to the mark with sample.
Add one drop of Soap Solution. Stopper
and shake vigorously.
Repeat step 2 until standing suds form.
Record the number of drops added.
The total number of drops equals the
hardness asCaCO in grains per gallon. 3
Note: To convert grains per gallon to mg/L,
multiply grains per gallon by 17.
